Monica is a Master of Planning student at Dalhousie University. She completed her undergraduate degree at Queen’s University in Geography and Environmental Studies. During that time she also spent a semester studying at the University of the West Indies, Cave Hill, Barbados. Her research interests include climate change mitigation and adaptation in coastal areas, environmental justice, and health equity. She is currently working on her independent project which focuses on the role of local governments in marine spatial planning in coastal communities in Nova Scotia.
