Cory Ochs is a research assistant for the Ocean Frontier Institute’s Module M research group. She completed a B.Sc. in Natural Resources and Environmental Studies at the University of Northern British Columbia and a Master’s degree in Neuroscience and Behavioural Ecology at the University of Windsor in southern Ontario. She developed an appreciation for OHS in field and hatchery settings during her experience with aquatic systems whilst working as a research assistant and graduate student in southern Ontario. She will apply her research skills and applied fieldwork knowledge to provide direct support for Module M-2 (Aquaculture Occupational Health and Safety) members. With experience as a biologist in government, conservation, and academic settings, she has been exposed to hazards frequently encountered by agriculture and aquaculture workers. Her longterm goal is to directly support community and institutional initiatives to advance environmental monitoring and protection, and to promote community development efforts that frequently compliment and sustain such goals.
